Capital City Arts Initiative PRESS RELEASE

"Robert Morrison – Tamara Scronce at CCAI Courthouse Gallery"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"
Robert Morrison – Tamara Scronce at CCAI Courthouse Gallery"

Featured in CCAI's fall Courthhouse Gallery exhibition are two of northern Nevada's preeminent scultors Robert Morrison and Tamara Scronce.

A reception for the artists will take place Thursday, September 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Carson City Courthouse, located at 885 East Musser Street in Carson City. Admission is free and the public is cordially invited.

At press time, the artists were both deep in creative process, conceptualizing and developing their site-specific sculpture installations. While the final product of their individual efforts is distinctively different, both use personal narrative and autobiographical elements as starting points for the creation of their work.

Although Ms. Scronce and Mr. Morrison are both member of the UNR Art Department sculpture faculty, this is a rare opportunity for them to show together.

Professor Scronce received her MFA degree from UNLV in 1997 and was a student of Professor Morrison while an undergraduate of UNR. Professor Morrison joined the UNR faculty in 1968 and was the subject of a one-person retrospective at the Nevada Museum of Art in 2004. Both have exhibited widely in the west.

The exhibition runs through December 14. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m to 5 p.m.
