Nevada Neighbors XIV: "Trails Plowed Under, Seeds Planted: Montana Art Practice"

Nevada Neighbors, the Capital City Arts Initiative’s lecture series on contemporary art, continues its spring events on Wednesday, March 29 with "Trails Plowed Under, Seeds Planted: Montana Art Practice." Stephen Glueckert, Curator at the Missoula Art Museum, will present an illustrated talk at the Carson City Library at 7:00 p.m.

There will be a reception at the library prior to his talk beginning at 6:15 p.m.The library is located at 900 North Roop Street. The lecture and reception are free and the public is cordially invited.

"Trails Plowed Under, Seeds Planted” will examine the evolution of Montana’s rich art history and discuss how the emergence of modernism has impacted the arts in big sky country. Notes Mr. Glueckert, “Charlie Russell’s book “Trail’s Plowed Under” captured a particular time and flavor of our regional history, but it also lamented great changes that would eventually come to the plains. My presentation will focus on some of those changes and the evolution of often overlooked contemporary art and artists in Montana.”

For the past 13 years Mr. Glueckert has served as Curator at the Missoula Art Museum. He is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Montana. A recipient of an artist’s fellowship, he has also taught art in Idaho, Washington, Montana, and Papua, New Guinea and Australia.
