Nevada Neighbors XIII: "At the Edge: Art & Culture at the US-Mexico Border"
Nevada Neighbors, the Capital City Arts Initiative’s lecture series on contemporary art, returns on Wednesday, March 1 with "At the Edge: Art & Culture at the US-Mexico Border," a lecture/presentation by inSite_05 Curator Michael Krichman. The presentation will take place at the Carson City Library at 7:00 p.m. An informal reception at the library immediately precedes his talk beginning at 6:15 p.m.
The library is located at 900 North Roop Street. The lecture and reception are free and the public is cordially invited.
The curator will discuss the fourteen-year history of inSite, an experimental arts organization. "InSite is focused on promoting artistic investigation, and the activation of urban space in the extraordinary context of the San Diego-Tijuana border region," comments Mr. Krichman. "It operates through a unique collaborative structure that is based on the active participation of cultural and educational institutions in the US and Mexico." The talk will highlight the projects of the most recent version of inSite, which took place this fall.
Michael Krichman obtained a law degree at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. From 1985 to 1990, he was a member of the environmental department of the law firm of Latham & Watkins. He has served as Executive Co-Director of inSite for three of their major projects. He currently lives and works in San Diego.
