FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Nevada Neighbors XVI: "The Pleasure of Your Company: Invitation and Participation in Contemporary Art"

The 2006-2007 edition of Nevada Neighbors, Capital City Arts Initiative’s lecture series on contemporary art, continues on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, with "The Pleasure of Your Company: Invitation and Participation in Contemporary Art" a lecture/presentation by New York conceptual artist Elaine Tin Nyo.

The lecture will take place at the Carson City Library at 7:00 p.m. There will be a reception at the library prior to her talk beginning at 6:15 p.m. The library is located at 900 North Roop Street. The lecture and reception are free and the public is cordially invited.

The lecture is an integral part of "CAP," [Capital City Arts Initiative Art In Public Program], a focus for this year's CCAI programs. In the months ahead, CAP will present a diverse range of art in public projects in northern Nevada and online.

"In my presentation, I will explore the social phenomenon of participation, the genuine desire people have to get together, and how the role of the host and the guest can evolve," comments Ms. Tin Nyo. She adds: "I am equally interesting in the resulting unexpected surprises and fun."

She will also present the work of artists who share her active approach to art production, as well as provide examples in popular culture, "from Bingo Night to ballroom dance, bake sales to bowling leagues."

Ms. Tin Nyo holds a BFA from Carnegie-Mellon University. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally. In 2000, she began studying Ballroom and Latin Dance. She is an International Style competitor on the amateur gold level.
