Neighbors Series Las Vegas Art Lecture by Robert Tracy

Arts Initiative’s lecture series on contemporary art practice in
the West, continues with a lecture by Robert Tracy titled "The Radiant
City: Contemporary Arts in the Las Vegas Cityscape." Dr. Tracy will
speak at the Carson City Library on Wednesday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m.
There will be a reception immediately preceding the talk at the library
beginning at 6:15 p.m. The library is located at 900 North Roop Street,
Carson City. The lecture and reception are free and open to the public.
Robert Tracy, Ph.D., will present Las Vegas as a major player in defining
American Pop Culture and its contemporary evolution. His slide lecture
will focus on Las Vegas not only as a cultural tourism magnate but also
as a cultural laboratory providing stimulation for initiating cutting
edge art in a variety of fields and manifestations.
Dr. Tracy has taught at UNLV for the past 20 years and now is an Associate
Professor of Art and Architecture History and Criticism. He pursued Master's
and Ph.D. degrees in Art History at UCLA. His research activities focus
on the architecture career of the famed Los Angeles architect John Parkinson.
He has written a two volume monograph on the life and work of John Parkinson
soon to be published.
